Total Fencers 12
After two years of epee Stab-N-Grabs, it was at the two year anniversary
party that we finally got enough foil fencers together to host a foil
Stab-N-Grab. The foil fencers were very excited about having their own
tournament. Michele, a long time foil enthusiast and supporter was overjoyed
to finally have her own event. Heik, World Cup foil competitor, has already
set the time for next week's foil Stab-N-Grab so everyone will know what
time to be there. Having a huge party for the first foil Stab-N-Grab was
a great way to get the event started. Hopefully there will be enough interest
to have it continue over the next weeks, months and years!

Libby and Victor
Heik and Frank were the first bout of the day. Heik easily defeated Frank
(5-1). Stefany and Victor followed with Stefany offering a surprisingly
strong showing. Unfortunelty it was not quite strong enough and Victor
took the Victory (5-3). The MacAllan brother-sister team fought each other
next and the much taller sister, Sharon won in a close one (5-4). Karey
and Andrew fought next and in a close match Andrew won (5-4).

Ken and Sharon
Round two began with Heik against his student, Richard. Richard was lion-
hearted in his battle but Heik has too much experience on him and was the
victor (5-0). Joe went against Victor and in another close match Victor
was again the victor (5-4). Libby fought much younger Sharon and took
the win (5-3). Andrew and Michele were the last of the first round with
more experience Michele taking the win (5-1).

Heik and Victor
Round three found Heik and Victor facing each other. This probably should
have been the final but fate would have it otherwise. It was a very close
match and the score went up and down for each side with Victor being the
winner (5-4). Michele had to face her nemisis, Libby. It seems for Michele
that Libby is often the block to the next level. On this day it was no
holds barred as the two battled back and forth. The final outcome was
that Libby took the win (5-4). The first foil Stab-N-Grab final was Libby
against Victor. It seemed the outcome was pre-ordained. Libby got the
first couple of touches and Victor settled down to get his victory. It
seems the fencing gods had other plans as Libby was down and Victor only
needed that last touch and he just couldn't get it. Libby's reposts
were actually on target. The end result was a victory for Libby (5-4).
It just goes to show that on any given day, any fencer can defeat any
other fencer.

UNDERSTANDING THE GAME
The Stab-N-Grab has a built in handicap, for each time a person wins,
they start the next Stab-N-Grab down a point. Also if a rated fencer
joins in the game mid-season they match the highest point handicap.
