We had another missing member show up, Ken Colgate. It was great to have
his fighting spirit and good cheer return to Stab-N-Grab. He has been
missing due to back problems and it's a good thing to see him recovered
enough to participate. I should note that in addition to some great
fencing this week, including a new winner, Austin. we had great food.
It seems that everyone was in a cookie baking frenzy this week and we
had at least four different batches of homemade cookies! Live can't
get much better.

Returning fencer Ken started by fencing Stefany. Stefany has been practicing
and Ken found her much improved from several months ago. He was still able
to take the win but he worked way harder than expected (5-3). Amanda and
Pierce followed with a close battle and Amanda winning (5-4). Andrew's amazingly
long reach (and magic pants) were able to overcome Everett's smooth moves
(5-2). Libby and Jessica had a close battle with Libby slipping past the lefty,
Jessica (5-4). Austin and Filip faced off and in another close battle, Austin
moved past Filip (5-4).

Round two began with Frank and Ken. Ken was relieved that Frank started with
four touches against him and was able to get that one touch he needed to move
to the next round (5-1). Amanda fought Andrew and again, Andrew's really long
reach enabled him to move past Amanda (5-2). Aubrey and Libby were next and in
another close battle Aubrey was able to move up (5-4). Austin and Michele
finished the round with a nail biter with Austin taking the win (5-4).

Round three started with Ken and Andrew. Ken met his match with Andrew's
reach and lost (5-4). Aubrey and Austin followed. They were in summer
fencing camp together and it was interesting to watch them fence. Once
again it was a close battle and Austin took the victory (5-4). The final
was Austin and Andrew. This time Austin was able to neutralize Andrew's
reach and take the win for the first time in series two. Congrats to Austin!

UNDERSTANDING THE GAME
The Stab-N-Grab has a built in handicap, for each time a person wins,
they start the next Stab-N-Grab down a point. Also if a rated fencer
joins in the game mid-season they match the highest point handicap.
