Total Fencers 19

Pre-Stab-N-Grab activities began with a farewell party for Coach Wang.
It was her last day at Red Rock for the foreseeable future. She's heading
to Boston to cover for her former Olympic coach while he travels to China.
She may or may not return depending on how things work out in Boston. We
had cake and a ton of food. Several people who normally aren't seen on a
Sunday turned out to say good bye. She will be greatly missed at Red Rock.

On the Stab-N-Grab side, the number of participants keeps climbing. We had
another new player, Jordan Kutner. He's had two lessons and he's ready to join
the Stab-N-Grab fray. The total is now up to 87! Maybe we can break 90 in the
next month or so.

The Wojcik's

Jack and Patrick started the event with Patrick just getting past Jack
(5-4). Michele and Jordan followed and in a surprise upset newcomer
Jordan took down our newest lefty, Michele (5-4). Alan and Jin were
next with Jin using his extremely fast reflexes to stop Alan's fleches
(5-3). Next up Joseph and little brother Patrick fought. Joseph showed
no mercy to his brother and took him out (5-1). Phillip and Jessica were
next with lefty Jessica taking down the foil/saber fencer Phillip (5-3).
Brian (the English Pirate) and Tony (the Spanish Pirate) fenced with
Tony winning (5-2). Stefany was the unlucky card picker who got Frank
for her first bout. Frank took his time and got the win (5-4). Libby and
Jordan faced off and Libby took out the newbie (5-2). Next was a bout of
John U. and John W., it was the John squared bout. In this case John won
(sorry I couldn't resist), John W. won (5-4). Eric got Everett for his
first bout and Everett was psyched to win and took Eric (5-4). The last
bout of the first round was Jin and Austin and Austin's distance and
point control defeated last week's winner, Jin (5-2).

Frank and Tony

Joseph and Jessica started the second round with Joseph's long lunge and
straight attack being the winning combination (5-2). Tony, not so lucky
this time got Frank for his second round and wasn't able to get the one
touch he needed to win and lost (5-4). Libby and John W. followed and
John took the win (5-4). Lastly, Everett and Austin fenced and Everett's
smooth moves defeated Austin (5-4).

Jack and Patrick

Round three began with Joseph and Frank with Joseph getting the one touch
needed to knock Frank out (5-4). John and Everett were the next two fencers
and John was able to topple Everett to move to the finals (5-3). The final
was son Joseph against father, John. It was a close bout, each working hard
hard to get the win. Ultimately father John, had the reach and the determination
to beat his son and take the win (5-4). It was an all Wojcik final and a new
winner to add to rolls.
