Total Fencers 14

After two weeks off for the UFF Nationals fourteen fencers gathered to
strive for the glory of winning Pierre Reposte. Greg, our previous winner
showed up but was not able to participate since he had broken his ankle.
Speedy recovery Greg! Ken has also been missing several weeks now, the
rumor is that he hurt his back. Speedy recovery to you too Ken, we miss
you! The rest of the group seems healthy and ready to fence!

Jin and Alan

The luck of the draw had Frank and Filip fencing first. This brought a
huge exclamation of glee from the crowd. Both fencers have won four times
and having them fence against each other for a one touch bout was pretty
entertaining. Everyone expected Filip to win but Frank surprised us all
with his one touch victory (5-4). Everett and Tony (sporting a french pirate
moustache and beard this week) faced off and Everett took the win (5-3).
Jin and Libby fought next and Jin easily deflected her and took the win (5-1).
Jonah and Andrew followed with Andrew's magic pants winning (5-4). Alan
and Jessica were next and Alan confidently took the victory (5-2). Stefany
and John fought with John winning (5-2).

Aubrey and Frank

Round two began with Aubrey facing Frank. Aubrey tried her best to get at
least a double touch but Frank psyched her out using his Drunken Monkey
and other distracting techniques to throw Aubrey off her game (5-4). Jin
faced Everett and took him down (5-4). Andrew then lost to Alan who had
his fleching game down (5-2). John and Michele followed. Michele with an
injured right elbow was fencing left handed and almost was able to beat
John, but alas no, John won (5-4).

Tony and Everett

Frank and Jin started round three and Jin's fast blade work was able to
knock Frank out before he could try for win number five and the championship.
Next father and son, John and Alan, faced off. There were many comments
from the crowds about possible punishments that the father might want to
inflict on the son, if he were to lose. However, it seems that both father
and son were above the taunts of the crowd and both fought well. In the end
Alan, with more experience and a longer reach took the win (5-3). The final
was Jin and Alan. Expectations were that Alan stood a really good chance
since he likes to fleche and Jin's back injuries restrict his movements.
Alan, however, was to learn like Jin's earlier victems, that excellent
bladework can overcome other challenges. And thus Jin was the victor (5-2).

Alan and John (Son & Father)
