Food and fencing, what a wonderful combination. That is what Sundays are
at Red Rock Fencing Center. This Sunday included some great fencing as
well as strawberries, homemade brownies, sandwiches, general carbohydrates
and more. As much as Stab-N-Grabs are about fencing they are also about
building a social community to support fencers and their families. In addition
to the social aspect they are great for practicing your competitive skills. The next
edition of the Red Rock Blast newsletter has a short article about how NOW is
the time to start seriously training for next year. Stab-N-Grabs can be a
big part of that training program. Take private lessons and then try out
the new techniques and strategies at the mini-tournaments. Ok, enough of the
coaching corner - on to the event!

Amanda and Everett

Tony and Ramzey started us off and in an upset the saber fencer took down
the epee fencer (5-4). Everett moved past Ava with his slick style (5-2).
Amanda and Libby had a close one, it actually went into the one minute
overtime and with seventeen seconds left Amanda was able to move up (5-4).
Jonah and Stefany finsihed round one with Jonah defeating Stefany (5-2).

Tony and Everett

Round two started with Michele and Ramzey. This time the saber fencer was
able to take the win over the foil fencer (5-2). Everett was able to get
past Austin (5-3). It was great to watch two fencers that have such good
distances, Austin has really improved greatly over the past year. Amanda
had another close bout, this time against Frank. He started down four and
she had one against her but she again got the win (5-4). Jonah and Sammy
were next with Jonah seriously out for the win (5-1).

Everett and Austin

Round three began with Ramzey and Everett. This time the saber fencer
was out of his league and Everett again demonstrated his slick moves
for the win (5-3). Amanda then faced Jonah and this time Jonah wasn't
able to take her down (5-3). The final was Everett and Amanda. It was
a great bout to watch. Amanda is the first woman to win two Stab-N-Grab
events - Way to go Amanda!!!
