Total Fencers 13
We had another new Stab-N-Grabber, Sammy Ogas, join us on Sunday. We have
now had 83 people participate in at least one Stab-N-Grab. Sammy is usually
a saber fencer but the spirit of competition lured her to try her hand at
epee. There was also a ton of food to accompany the event. It's always a
good thing to have munchies to go with a good dose of fencing.

The afternoon started off with Frank taking down Libby (5-3). Seems the
P90X training Frank's been doing is paying off. He's moving faster and
better than he has in months. Tony and Everett followed and in a surprise
upset Tony took down Everett (5-3). Of course, it wasn't a surprise to Tony and
Everett has been out due to an injury and a busy life. It's just a reminder
that on any given day anyone can beat anyone. Greg and Andrew were next and
Greg was out for victory and took down Magic Pants (5-2). Stefany faced Alan
and went down fencing her heart out (5-1). Sammy and Ava fenced and Ava saw
a solid victory (5-2).

Round two started with Michele and Frank. Michele gave it a real effort and
almost took Frank down, almost...(5-4). Greg and Tony followed and it was
a fun bout to watch as the two were pretty even. Greg focused on fleching
while Tony truimphed with counters and won the bout (5-4). Jonah and Alan
were next and Alan used his monster reach to move up to the next round (5-2).
Ava and Taylor finished the round with Taylor's point control beating Ava (5-3).

Round three began with Frank and Tony. Frank had the hot hand and even starting
three touches down against Tony's one touch he was able to beat Tony (5-4). The
crowd began to get nervous that Frank was going to take the win and tie with
Filip for four wins. Alan and Taylor followed and Taylor gave Alan a close run
for his money but Alan was able to squeeze out the victory (5-4). The final
was Alan and Frank. Alan felt pretty confident that he could take Frank down but
Frank was ready for him and took the win (5-4). Frank was totally thrilled and
his mother will be so proud! With four touches against him, it's going to be
a lot more challenging for him to get that final win.
