Total Fencers 20

Around 1:45 pm on Sunday it looked like it was only going to be about
twelve fencers participating. A straggler came in and said Ava was not
far behind. Then a gaggle of fencers wandered in and the end result was
twenty fencers on a sunny afternoon in Las Vegas. There were masks and
blades everywhere. The pulling the cards to establish seeding took a few
minutes as that many fencers just can't stay focused or quiet long enough
to pay attention. Eventually the list was complete and everyone was ready
for the day's event. A ton of food mysteriously appeared and nobody left
hungry!

Alan and Jin

With twenty competitors there were quiet a few byes the first round. Libby
and AVa were listed first. Libby managed to just slip by (5-4). Patrick and
Andrew were next and Andrew had a harder time trying not to crush Patrick
and be accused of being a puppy kicker. Patrick gave it his best shot and
managed to get a touch in (5-1). Jim and Jin fought, and those two names are
too close and confused quite a few people. Jin's incredible parries carried
the day and he won (5-2). Ken and Jack were the last fencers of round one
and Jack did live up to his title of giant killer and defeated ken (5-4).

Alan and Jin

Round two started with John and Libby. John took charge of the bout and
defeated Libby (5-4). Joseph and Frank fought and Frank came away with the
win (5-4). Alan and Terance followed with Alan's fleching overcoming Terence's
surprise attacks (5-2). Andrew and Filip followed. Andrew only needed to get
one touch to send Filip to the showers and he managed to get the job done (5-1).
Ryan and Jin fought and again Jin's fast hand won out (5-4). Ramzey faced
Michelle and took total control to win (5-0). Jonah fenced Greg and just barely
won (5-4). I should add Greg took a lot of heckling. Jack and Eric were next
with the more experienced Eric taking the win (5-1).

Filip and Andrew

John and Frank started round three and Frank was able to sneak past John (5-4).
Alan and Andrew followed with Alan just getting past Andrew's incredibily long
reach (5-4). Jin and Ramzey fought and Jin was able to get past the saber
fencer (5-3). Jonah and Eric were the last of round three and Jonah was able
to defeat Eric, who has been missing for quite some time, (3-2). I should add
it was a very defensive bout and they went into the one minute overtime because
of the tie at the end of the three minutes.

Jack and Ken

Frank and Alan started the next round with Alan beating Frank (5-3). Jin faced
Jonah and once Jin's fast parry reposte besting Jonah (5-2). The final was Jin
and Alan. Alan tried the fleching game against Jin who can't move that well
due to back issues but Jin saw him coming and was able to win the day (5-1).
All in all a great day of fencing for everyone.
