Ironman Competition

General Event Information

The second Ironman event was held. Twelve people showed up to try
their hand at a long day of fencing. As a result of this day several people
now truly understand the concept of the endurance needed for Ironman.
The event hit some rocky points with time limitations and weapon
shortages but overall everyone had a good time. We did have a change
because of time and only the epee event had pools. The other two weapons
went straight to 15 touch direct eliminations.

The idea for an Ironman Competition was hatched by Scott Carlson
and Libby Garry while at the Nationals. It is a way to give
people a chance to experiment with other weapons in a non-sactioned
event. Several people at the Nevada Championships were fencing more
than one weapon and the Ironman was seen as a way for people to practice
during the year instead of only once a year. The event order was Epee,
foil and saber.
